This Barbera was harvested from 3 different blocks, including two from Fields Family Vineyard on Valley Drive with varying clones and trellising and the third is grown at Karmere Vineyards off of Shenandoah School Road. There are two clones of Barbera, the renowned "Cooper Clone" as well as an Italian cut clone, 19. The Cooper Clone tends to have more plum and mixed berry flavors ranging from strawberry to blue and even blackberry and a lot of herbal character with slightly more mellow acidity if ripened properly while the Italian Clone 19 has more fresh dark fruits including black cherry, black currant, spice and zesty acidity. We use the combination to create our wine which is beautifully bright and fresh with vivid yet highly pigmented color, complex spicy aromatics and big fruit flavors. Spicy clove and cinnamon greet you on the nose with Bing cherry and mixed berry as well as fresh lavender and a mild toasted bread character. The palate is very bright yet graceful with silky texture and a memorable finish. This Barbera will age beautifully. Drink now through 2025.
