Awarded Best Zinfandel at the 2021 Amador County Fair! 93 Points, Editor's Choice from Wine Enthusiast Magazine!
This is the third vintage of our naturally fermented Zinfandel that we call 'The Native'. There is yeast everywhere in the environment; on the fruit, in the picking lugs and bins, on the winemaking equipment and in the air. We chose to make this naturally fermented style to add to our Zinfandel repertoire. It is a true expression of Amador County Zinfandel, showcasing the varietal characteristics of the grape as well as our Terroir. Bin fermented, pressed in our old wooden basket press, and aged in neutral oak barrels to avoid any distractions.
Extremely focused and concentrated fruit flavors light up this terrific wine. It's full bodied and lively textured, and was fermented on native yeast and aged in non-new barrels. Bright raspberry and rich blackberry mingle nicely, accented lightly with baking spices. JIM GORDON, Wine Enthusiast Magazine
